Zürcher Kantonalbank today shows how the temporary ZüriBahn connects Mythenquai and Zürichhorn in five years in 2020. They want to build the elevator for the 150th anniversary.
With 18 gondolas – 24 passengers in the cabin – a total of 2000 passengers per hour are transported from bank to bank. The rear windows of the cabins can be opened. The construction would have to pay 40 and 60 million francs.
"The ZüriBahn must be a symbol for breaking the new earth," the ZKB announced. And, "She wants to encourage people to think about traffic issues that are part of the big questions of tomorrow and tomorrow."
Resistance to the project
However, there is resistance. Especially the residents of the two stations fear a rush of too much audiences. Therefore, a petition was launched against the project.
The idea with the cord at Lake Zurich is not new. The Landi lift from 1939 was still a short-term phenomenon, the G59 horticultural exhibition remained for seven years. In 1966 the supporting structures were demolished, so the view from the city to the Glarus-Alps was again confused.
The project becomes more concrete. So the first specimens were taken last week. Today, the ZKB is announcing the latest developments.
