A witness says a gunshot was fired at an Auckland bar on Sunday morning, shattering glass and covering Punters.
2.45am at the Viadakt Harbor Dining District in the city. Police said no one was injured in the fighting in Rudy.
Dr. A witness told staff that there were 10 to 15 people inside Rudy’s entrance.
“We heard a series of gun shots coming from the entrance.”
The witness told the media that some people were standing around uncontrollably but others were covered and some were hiding under tables.
“Then we heard the sound of glass shattering on top of the escalators.”
Dr. Rudy was open to customers Sunday afternoon.
Kylie Moncour, the bar’s chief marketing officer, said she was grateful anyone was injured.
“All the patrons and team members are safe, but we can not comment further as the investigation is in the hands of the New Zealand Police Service.”
Police District Operations Manager Rachel Dolhegui said the shooting was believed to be linked to the group.
“There have been a number of recent shooting incidents involving elements of organized criminal groups and gangs, and it is believed that at this early stage there was some conflict related to this particular incident.”
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Franch said police are committed to finding the person responsible and holding them accountable.
“A group of people who were removed from the bar were outraged. Someone handed them a gun.”
The gun was applied to the foyer ceiling after the walk.
The Weekend Herald reports that more than 350 people have been injured by gunfire across Auckland in five years.
In the first 10 months of this year, 63 people were shot and hospitalized.
The move comes after users reported a shooting at the Auckland Strip Club Calendar Girls. Rudy was shot.
