Mathew Norman, the youngest member of Bali, says drug trafficker Rina Lawrence is "the most successful" before being released immediately.

Key points:

  • Norman was found to be 18 years old
  • He said he is trying to improve himself and submit the application for release
  • He believes that one day his family can go home

Laurence is the first member of Bali on the 13th anniversary of his release in prison. The prisoner is jailed for attempting to smuggle 2.7 kg heroin from the tourist hot pot.

The 32-year-old Norman was surrounded by the wall of the Caracachan prison of 18 years. He will be serving a life sentence for life and spend all his life in jail.

Lawrence, 41, was later shifted from prison to Bangla Jail.

If Lawrence handed him up, Norman told the ABC: "They have our punishment and we have judged our sentences in Indonesian courts."

Norman says it is a nature of justice.

"For any reason, she issued a verdict and we got it, so what should we deal with, do not worry about other people," he said.

"I'm negative or not, it's not healthy, I'm trying to be as good as possible … it reflects myself, me and mine around me."

He is in the hope of going for a day free from jail.

"With Indonesia's judicial system, you have a lot of opportunities to reduce your sentence to life imprisonment, and we're trying to reduce your applications for a few years," he said.

"We have not yet received it, but we hope that we can reduce our destiny, we'll leave it one day."

Bali an Rangallers, Andrew Chan, and Moorur Sukumaran were executed in 2015. Another member, Tan Duk Thangooni, died of cancer this year.

Norman was told by participating in the programs in jail.

"There are a lot of programs going on in tennis and other sporting activities, so we have so many opportunities to stop us," he said, adding that he would not return to the jail any more than a day and not for resumption, but to survive the life of life.

He receives three visits every week from his father, who lives in Bali.

"I believe that one day I can go home and visit [my family] Once again, "said Norman.

Lawrence was originally living in jail but was shortened to appeal for 20 years. It has been reduced many times.

He was arrested following the high-speed car ride back in Australia.
